Touted by Brand Republic’s by Ed Owen as “combining the mass-buying potential of Groupon with the location-based gaming of Foursquare”, Facebook deals is being rolled out across Europe from today.

Since its US launch back in November 2010, the pioneering location based retail deals service has seen growing popularity. Facebook’s EMEA vice-president Joanna Shields, said of Facebook Deals: "For the first time in history we can make these deals at scale, at real time and for free."

Originally launched only on the iPhone app, the concept has since been introduced on android phones in the US.

Starbucks, Gap , McDonald's, and H&M are among the brands to use the service, and will be offering digital coupons to potential customers in the vicinity of their shops.
