Continental Tyres has been shortlisted for two honours at the Football Business Awards in recognition for its support of English football; in particular the development of the women’s game.
Continental has been shortlisted for the Best Football Community Scheme in 2013 for its work with The FA Girls Football Festivals. Over 30 Festivals will take place across England this year with over 10,000 girls aged between 5-17 taking part; an increase of 42 per cent on last year.
Continental’s support of The FA Women’s Super League and recent backing of the England Women’s Senior team has also been recognised with a nomination for Football Brand of the Year. The brand has also signed a four year agreement to become an ‘Official Supporting Partner’ of St. Georges Park, the National Football Centre.
Laura Hardy, sponsorship manager at Continental Tyres said: “We’re really proud of our involvement in the growing success of The FA Girls Football Festivals and it’s great to be nominated for both our work in the community and for our continuing support of the women’s game in England.
“With football now the number one female team participation sport in England, our aim is to ensure its continued growth amongst youngsters and provide as many girls as possible with the opportunity to experience football.”
Continental also has a unique offering to the football community with its ContiWarmUp programme. The free online resource offers structured training plans to prepare players physically and mentally for football.
The right preparation not only dramatically reduces the risk of injury but enables training and matches to deliver the greatest improvement in performance.
The ContiWarmUp programme is easily tailored online to create a bespoke session to suit the activity and age group taking part.
Laura Hardy adds: “Continental has been involved in football for many years and at all levels, from grassroots development, such as supporting The FA Girls Football Festivals, through to our sponsorship of the UEFA European Championships and the FIFA World Cup.
“Our recent announcements re-affirm our commitment to the future of football in England, and we’re delighted that this has been recognised and rewarded with two nominations at the Football Business Awards.”
The judging panel at the Football Business Awards includes Karen Brady, vice president of West Ham United FC, Bob Wilson, former Scotland International Goalkeeper and broadcaster, as well as representatives from Sport England and the League Managers Association.
The winners will be announced at Chelsea FC’s ground, Stamford Bridge, in London on 7th November.
