With just one month to go until arguably the since most important vote in the UK in a generation, both sides of the EU referendum debate have given their answers to some of the top concerns and questions among small businesses.
In April, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) wrote to Matthew Elliott from the Vote Leave campaign and Will Straw from Britain Stronger in Europe with the top ten questions FSB members wanted answered.
One of the top ten questions on the minds of FSB members is the economic impact arising from either deciding to remain in or leave the EU.
Mike Cherry, national chairman of the FSB, said: "Our members see us as a trusted adviser to help them get the answers they need from both Britain Stronger In Europe and Vote Leave. FSB is tackling the significant information deficit through our research, our devolved and regional based podcast series and now we have gone event further with our new collaboration with Full Fact to scrutinize the answer to our members from both campaigns. This will build towards our EU referendum debate on 13 June with both campaigns debating each other and facing FSB members."
Will Moy, director of Full Fact, said: "We hope that small business owners and everyone else in this country are able to have the facts they need to make a well-informed decision when they come to vote in the EU referendum on 23 June. We will do our best to cut through the claims and to find out the facts behind them."
Mr Cherry added: "The UK's 5.4 million small business owners will have a pivotal impact on the overall result of the EU referendum. The small business vote is crucial, with two in five (42%) saying their vote could still be swayed. We call on our member to ensure they are registered by 7 June to ensure they can have their say on 23 June. The FSB will not tell our members how to vote, but we will encourage them to review these responses, our podcasts and other relevant information to ensure they make a decision that is right for them and their business."
