D&D London announced today that it has agreed terms with property owners Fenlay Limited to develop an outdoor café at the grade 1 listed Royal Exchange in the City. The café will serve around 100 covers and will also offer food to take away. The space is to be designed by Conran & Partners, the interior designers of D&D’s existing ventures at the Royal Exchange (Restaurant Sauterelle and Royal Exchange Grand Café). The business is planned to open in Summer 2011.

Des Gunewardena, Chairman & CEO of D&D London commented:

“A snowy December may seem a strange time to be thinking about pavement cafes. But we are very excited about this project. We are planning to create something different but complimentary to the Royal Exchange Grand Café, which has been a big success for us.”
