Bob Crow, the outspoken Gereral Secretary of the RMT union, has claimed that cuts in staffing and maintainence budgets under Boris Johnson are responsible for the tube's poor performance; and that "there is absolutely no excuse for him to sit back and watch while the tube system is turned into a playground for muggers and vandals.”

In protest of Boris Johnson's reneging his pre election promise to oppose London Underground ticket office closures, the RMT union will be taking their to City Hall this week with a demonstration at 9.30 am on Wednesday (15th December) to coincide with Mayor’s Question Time.

The union will be handing Boris Johnson a special pre-Christmas delivery of postcards collected from members of the public opposing the cuts to ticket offices and station staffing — the issue at the heart of the current dispute with RMT and TSSA.
