London counts down to the start of ACCELERATE 2013 — Britain’s flagship festival for high potential businesses - with an official Market Opening Ceremony at London Stock Exchange.

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson fired the starting gun on ACCELERATE 2013 today, when he opened trading in the central London Stock Exchange atrium. The London Stock Exchange is home to AIM, the world’s most successful growth market.

Following the Market Opening Ceremony, guests headed to the flagship head quarters of event sponsor, Coutts at 440 Strand. There, a display designed to raise awareness of the vital role Britain’s high-growth businesses play in supporting the national economy, was unveiled, featuring ACCELERATE 2013 speakers Paul Lindley, Founder & CEO of Ella’s Kitchen, Thea Green, Founder of Nails Inc, and Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia.

Andrew Haigh, Executive Director of Client Propositions, Coutts, said: “With just six per cent of British business creating more than half of the nation’s new jobs, it’s vital that these businesses are encouraged to prosper and succeed. That is why ACCELERATE 2013 is such a fantastic initiative - we are proud to be supporting the festival and our new window display is an illustration of that support.”

Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool said: “The City of Liverpool is proud to be hosting ACCELERATE 2013, which will be a showcase of all that is great about British business. Today’s London countdown highlights the fantastic support from the Capital and illustrates huge national appetite for a festival of this kind.”

Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, added: “London Stock Exchange is the beating heart of British business, and the ideal setting to begin the countdown to ACCELERATE 2013. We very much welcome the support of such an influential business organisation. We are looking forward to supercharging the debate on economic growth in Liverpool on 27 June when some of our best businesses meet their national counterparts in what will be a wonderful event.”

Marcus Stuttard, Head of AIM, said: “Britain’s high growth businesses are pivotal to the long term health of the UK economy. For them to succeed, create jobs and grow into true businesses of scale, there must be a cohesive funding infrastructure underpinned by a community of businesses and advisors which work together. That’s why London Stock Exchange Group is thrilled to support ACCELERATE 2013, which brings together high growth businesses from across the whole of the UK.”

ACCELERATE 2013 is taking place in Liverpool on Thursday 27th June, bringing together world-class speakers from the world of business and beyond, to create a unique ‘boot-camp’ for up to 1,000 British entrepreneurs.
