Cosworth has received two top honours at The Manufacturer of the Year Awards for 2011.
Judges selected Cosworth as both Small to medium enterprise (SME) Manufacturer of the Year, and overall UK Manufacturer of the Year based on their innovation in manufacturing and engineering, financial success and growth in supplying the aerospace and automotive markets.
Cosworth’s commitment to its employees, strong partnerships with customers and suppliers and a proactive interest in the growth of UK manufacturing were highlighted as key factors in the award.
“The awards recognise our successful transition from a motorsports company to a diversified business with a high value-added manufacturing capability that can compete worldwide,” Rik Temmink, Chief Marketing Officer at Cosworth Group said.
“By combining Cosworth’s world-renowned intellectual property in high-performance engines and electronics with our rapid end-to-end engineering and manufacturing approach, we are able to punch above our weight, even in large markets such as aerospace, automotive and defence — both in the UK and in export markets including the US, Russia and India.”
The judging panel for the awards included Dean Battersby, Production Director at Gripple Ltd, Peter Russell, Head of Manufacturing Sector at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Rachel Eade, Automotive Cluster Manager at the Manufacturing Advisory Service - West Midlands.
The awards were chaired by SayOne Media CEO and publisher of The Manufacturer magazine, Nick Hussey, who was joined on stage by keynote speaker Colonel Bob Stewart and Bloodhound SSC project director, Richard Noble.
