Forward thinking businesses throughout the UK are benefitting from a new programme launched to secure UK internships and work placements for high calibre Chinese students.
The Sino-UK Internship Programme has been established by BII China, working in partnership with Beijing Compounded World Education Technology Limited (BCW), the professional body for education and training in China.
China’s economy is booming in line with its growth and development plans. Western corporations are beginning to emerge in China and many of the management and leadership positions are being taken by people from the west (the UK, USA and Australia in particular).
China wants to ensure its next generation of workers have the opportunity to capitalise on their country’s booming economy. It wants to help them develop as strong business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The team operating the Sino-UK Internship Programme are establishing links with UK companies in order to share the benefits of taking on a Chinese intern with them. They are also building strategic partnerships with universities throughout the UK to increase the number of Chinese students joining the programme.
Sino-UK aims to secure 2,000 positions within its first year of operation and the intention is that these will be geographically spread throughout the UK. Work is well underway in London and the South East and the team will move quickly into Central England, the North and the South West. Sino-UK is keen to work with companies who will offer multiple positions year after year to ensure the project continues to grow.
Future plans include setting up ‘service centres’, which will provide recruitment opportunities as a member of staff will be employed in each centre to recruit Chinese students onto the programme.
