The CBI today commented on the Government’s announcement that the right to request flexible working will be extended to parents of children from under the age of 16 up to 18 from next year.
Katja Hall, CBI Director of Employment Policy, said:
“Flexible working has been a real success story, benefiting both employers and employees alike. Many employers already go beyond their statutory requirements and offer flexible hours to all staff.
“The Government is currently planning to consult on how best to extend the right to request to all, which we support.
“But its decision to partially extend the regulations to cover parents of children under 18 now will place an unnecessary administrative burden on companies that will end up having to revise their human resource policies twice in a short space of time.”
