Commenting on the Prime Minister’s promise to “put out the red carpet” for more foreign entrepreneurs in the UK, Tom Bewick, Chief Executive of Enterprise UK, says:
“Attracting foreign entrepreneurs is important in terms of ensuring Britain remains open for business, but we must focus on creating our own entrepreneurs.
“Given the projected 500,000 job losses in the UK, now is the time to foster a greater sense of entrepreneurial endeavour to build more successful home-grown businesses.
“It’s simplistic to identify any one reason why Britain has never created the equivalent of a Google or a Microsoft, but the lack of investment is a key issue. If the UK is to raise its game we need to invest in enterprise education.”
