A landmark ruling by the High Court has forced telecoms giant BT to block access to members-only piracy hub, newzbin 2.
The case had been brought by a series of high profile Hollywood executives under the Motion Picture Association in a bid to prevent open piracy of their copyrighted material.
BT had fought the MPA’s actions, arguing that, if successful, the case could result in their being increasingly expected to ‘police the internet’.
Speaking to the BBC, Chris Marcich, President and Managing Director of the MPA said: "This ruling from Justice Arnold is a victory for millions of people working in the UK creative industries and demonstrates that the law of the land must apply online.
