The UK's risks its position as a key influencer in the global digital market if it votes to leave the European Union, Vodafone's chief executive has warned.
With the EU set to publish proposals for a single digital market later in the year, Vittorio Colao told the BBC that the UK will miss an opportunity if it "tries to sit outside".
"The next big opportunity is in digital. Britain is particularly strong in digital, and it would be a missed opportunity if it tried to sit outside," he told the BBC's Today programme.
Mr Colao said: "There is a difference between being a neighbour and being a co-owner."
Pointing towards the success of Germany's use of the single market, he said Britain could do the same with its digital expertise.
Mr Colao also hinted that Vodadone, and several other companies listed on the FTSE 100, could decide to move their headquarters out of the UK in the event of a Brexit.
