The boss of BG Group could walk away from the company with £25 million after just two month's work, following the takeover by Shell.

Helge Lund made the headlines before he took the helm at BG Group as investors forced the company to scrap a "golden hello" package.

In November, reports suggested that Mr Lund could receive a pay package worth more than £25 million.

He is expected to stay with the company for a year to help Shell boss Ben van Beurden complete the £47bn takeover. But before that, BG Group's remuneration committee will decide how much Mr Lund will be awarded.

On top of his basic annual salary of £13m, Mr Lund will be able to receive at least part of his shares package and compensation for being put out of a job as a result of the takeover.
