Demand for tickets for the men's 100 metres final at the 2012 London Olympics has seen the number of requests pass the one million mark.

Organisers say the session, to be held at the Olympic Stadium on August 5th 2012, is the most demanded event at the games thus far.

Due to tickets for sponsors, VIPs and media there are only around 40,000 tickets left in the stadium for what will be one of the highlights of the games, and the lucky applicants will know by June 24th if they have been successful in their bids.

Some 1.8 million people applied for tickets, with a total of 20 million ticket applications. Such was demand organisers say they could have sold out the stadium 20 times over for the sprint final showpiece.
