The Royal Wedding may now be a distant memory, but the Royal family remain in the public eye as preparations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year get under way.
To mark sixty years on the throne for the Queen John Walker & Sons are launching a limited edition bottle of whiskey that will cost a staggering £100,000.
John Walker & Sons hold a Royal Warrant and intend to release sixty crystal decanters of ‘Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky'.
For £100,000 one would expect something special, and that is exactly what they will get. Each of the sixty bottles will feature a silver collar, hand set with a half carat diamond and an individually numbered silver seal.
The bottles will be offered by invitation only by private sale, and a guaranteed profit of at least £1 million will go to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, a charitable branch of the Royal Warrant Holders Association.
"These are extraordinary grain and malt whiskies that have been maturing slowly since 1952," Jim Beveridge, Master Blender for John Walker & Sons told The Daily Mail
"It’s a huge privilege to work with them using all our resources and experience to craft a John Walker & Sons blend that’s fitting for this special anniversary."
The whiskey will be bottled on February 6th 2012, sixty years to the day since the Queen began her reign on the throne, with the private auction to take place in early 2012.
