Sectors such as construction, engineering, utilities and other male dominated industries can often be challenging for women to navigate, particularly those striving to reach a leadership role.

The pressure of being the only woman can be overwhelming, and studies have shown that individuals who are the ‘only ones’ such as women, LGBTQ+ individuals or persons of colour, are subject to a higher percentage of bias and discrimination from members of the majority group, whether intentional or not. This can lead to them trying to blend in with the group.

This panel will hear from three panellists from traditionally male dominated industries on their experiences of handling overt discrimination or more subtle forms of bias and will provide advice to women looking to develop their career in male dominated sectors.
