Small Businesses Should Invest In Training

A new year brings many resolutions, whether they surround work or personal areas, yet how many are actually kept passed the end of January? To help increase the chances of success, we need to remember Boot's renowned January advert advice; limit the number of resolutions, as it is much easier to focus and be successful on one area at a time, than spreading ourselves too thinly.
The main theme for most resolutions is improvement e.g. increase fitness, lose weight or gain a promotion and pay rise, and so it is easy to see why continual professional development is a key area for many managers at the beginning of 2010.

During December 2009, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) conducted a Future Forecast survey, asking 1,337 managers what their focus for 2010 will be; unsurprisingly the top answer was pledging support to their team's development (45%).
