With British banks' reputations among the public suffering supermarket chain Asda has announced plans to offer financial products.
Asda Money has been launched in a bid to promote products such as currency exchange, insurance and a credit card. The services, to be provided by specalist companies, will be sold in store.
The move comes shortly after Marks and Spencer, to be backed by HSBC, said it would launch an in-store banking service this summer.
Information about the Asda products will be supplied at checkouts and online.
