From Aberdeen to Bournemouth, customers shopping in any of Tesco’s Extra stores will now have free, unlimited access by signing up with their Clubcard number. Those who do not have a Clubcard are able to use the service for 15 minutes free every 24 hours.

So far, customers have been using it to read product reviews and compare prices while they shop. The Wi-Fi also allows users to access their Clubcard account online to check their points and receive e-vouchers.

“We’re proud to be the first UK Supermarket to offer nationwide access to free Wi-Fi,” said Tesco’s CIO, Miki McNamara. “People are increasingly using a variety of digital services and we’re excited by our customers’ reaction to the new service.”

During a recent customer survey, 82% said they will definitely use the service again, while all found it “easy to use.” Other customers said it was “an excellent idea,”, “great service, thank-you”, “great for finding product locations in-store on the Tesco app.”
