RBS boss not to take a bonus

28/06/2012

By Daniel Hunter

The Royal Bank of Scotland's chief executive, Stephen Hester, has announced that he will not take a bonus this year following the failure of the RBS computer system and subsequent chaos that it caused.

The computer failure left many customers unable to access their accounts or move money. Mr Hester also confirmed that RBS is one of the banks being investigated about attempts to manipulate Libor interest rates, for which Barclays has already been fined.

"I don't deserve one and wouldn't take one," Mr Hester said, who was paid a £1.2 million last year.
