Over the last year, we have all had to make numerous sacrifices in both our personal and professional life. There are some things however, we simply cannot compromise on. For many in the Third Sector, travel is the bloodline of their work and a necessity many cannot forgo. I am often approached by clients to reveal 'trade secrets' on how to reduce travel costs. The truth is... there are none. But through simple and practical methods, reduced travel costs can be achieved....

I understand that the current climate has forced many sectors to re-evaluate their finances, and in many circumstances, be quite brutal in cutting their outgoings. So, should Third Sector employees travel less frequently? The answer is no. After working with not-for-profit organisation for many years, I truly understand the urgency of their work. Many of our customers are humanitarian workers and missionaries who offer aid to those in crisis, and if they do not help, who will?

Appling numerous money saving tips, will enable them to effectively manage their travel expenses, and enable them to continue to bring their hard work to life. I have compiled what I believe to be the best industry tips in order for organisations to save money whilst travelling:

Firstly, when it comes to flying, I would strongly advise to book further in advance if at all possible. The smaller the gap between the booking date and the travel date, the higher the price you pay. For example, by booking a flight from Heathrow to Entebbe four weeks in advance, rather than a week before, you could save 46%.
