Pilkington Launches 'Apprentice' Style Leadership Programme
By Claire West
A powerful new leadership development programme based upon and combining 'The Apprentice' and 'Dragons Den' style principles is soon to be launched by Pilkington Leadership (www.pilkingtonleadership.co.uk)
The courses will be aimed at Business leaders who are interested in growing their leadership potential and careers and who are charged with shaping the culture of their organisations. It is modelled upon a highly successful programme that Pilkington Leadership has carried out with client United Utilities.
The programme will test and grow a variety of core capabilities from entrepreneurial ability, through to personal impact and team leadership. ...
...The pilot programme at United Utilities involved the managers being split into teams, each of which were given £1000 in cash and asked to return six weeks later to evaluate their profit on the original investment. The Pilkington Leadership programme is the first of its type and has revealed some remarkable results.
The teams came up with a variety of ideas and devised strategies to turn investment into profit. The learning's have been significant, and far exceed those which are derived from traditional classroom based management seminars. In addition, to the powerful learning the teams have delivered impressive financial returns with the winning team producing over £11,000 in less than six weeks.
Those taking part in the programme have been quick to compliment it as both a rewarding and highly challenging experience. Karl Brookes of United Utilities explained: "It is unique from any other management development programme exercise I have been involved with, in that the task is real and therefore carries many of the associated 'real world'
risks. Personally I found the programme to be one of the most challenging and rewarding activities I have ever been involved with."
