The University of Glasgow won the title of Scotland regional winner of the annual International Trade Awards in recognition of the excellent track record in attracting students from around the world to the University's MSc in Management programme. Over the past three years, the university has seen the number of overseas students enrolling on the course triple thanks to the department's work in establishing partnerships with academic institutions in its core markets of China and India. - www.gla.ac.uk

A.C.Muir: Hi my names A.C.Muir, I'm a lecturer in marketing in university of Glasgow. We won the trade award for overseas exploits. We've brought a lot of students over to Scotland in the last few years and numbers have shot up.

People come to Glasgow because of the city. People come to Glasgow because we look like a university ought to look. People come to Glasgow because it is a high rated university. Were highly ranked, think in the top 80 in the world now. Were triply credited in terms of business school accreditation which is the highest level you can get. With the queen's award from last year, for the Msc in management, allied to the HSBC international trade award, we've got the external badges of recognition which say were good at what we do.

Speaker: The university of Glasgow business school, they won a 2008 queens award. They target their Msc management programme to recent graduate's world wide.

A.C.Muir: We are old and traditional but we are good at what we do. We have grown our numbers say from somewhere around about half a million and peaked at 2.3 million pounds. To get such growth in four years, in a very competitive market isn't easy and we have a long term strategy of these partnerships in order that were not heavily covered with customers that are students from one country. Were trying to not spread the risk if you'd like but spread the customer base and by growing the partnerships with the other universities, that's where we see long term success and that's something I don't think our rivals are doing as well as us.

Speaker: Their turnover of overseas students has risen 261% in the last four years and they are now within the top 1% of world business schools. Congratulations university of Glasgow.
